“10 Rules For Success” by Napoleon Hill

1. Set your head and heart upon a DEFINITE MAJOR PURPOSE and go to work, right where you stand, to attain it; and begin NOW!

2. Adopt and follow the habit of GOING THE EXTRA MILE by rendering more service and better service than you are paid for, thus enlarging the space you may occupy in the world.

3. Control your MENTAL ATTITUDE and keep it always positive and free from the spirit of defeatism.

4. Apply the GOLDEN RULE in all your human relationships, no matter what others may do.

5. Learn all that others have discovered in connection with your occupation, job or business, and profit by their experience, thus saving yourself both grief and loss of time.

6. Be prudent with your diet, exercise regularly, and avoid dependence on drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.

7. Keep your dominating thoughts upon the things you desire and demand of life, and off the things you do not desire.

8. Learn to transmute your sex emotion into attainment of your DEFINITE MAJOR PURPOSE, at will, remembering that this is a creative force of unknown, unlimited possibilities.

9. If you work for another person, do your work HIS WAY, not yours, and do it in a gracious, pleasing manner.

10. Instead of criticizing others (no matter how much they may deserve it) devote your time to the discovery of traits of your own which should be correct lest they provide the basis of just criticism against you.

These rules have served me well as I have studied the book, “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. If you haven’t read his works yet, I highly recommend it.

8 Rules For Social Media Marketing

Have you posted links on Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks and wondered why you never get a response? Do you find your friend requests ignored or have you noticed that you’ve been removed from lists or groups?  Ever stopped to ask yourself why?

Are those with a huge followings and lots of  social validation just lucky? Or have they done certain things to attract and keep their following?  Believe it or not, these marketers are doing things right.  If you do social media marketing the right way, you will attract a large following, get a ton of leads and can massively grow your business almost on autopilot.  So what are they doing right?

Here are the top 8 rules for social media marketing.

RULE 1:  Never promote your business on the first contact. That’s like jumping into bed with them before you ever get to know them.  Find something in common and build upon that.  Get to know them and ask about their  business first.  Just be a friend without an agenda.  Find out how you can help them.

RULE 2:  Never send random or generic invitations to people to join your list or network.  When you invite someone to connect, you should always include a message, not a link. Compliment them on a post or a training they shared. Find a common interest you both have.  Mention another friend or connection you both have in common. Give them a reason to connect with you.

RULE 3:  Once you have made some connections and contacts, don’t start bombarding them with messages about your business.  You will be ‘unfriended’ in no time. Instead, give them a reason to stay on as a friend by offering them something of value . . . (see rule #4.)

RULE 4:  Always look for ways to add value to your contacts through education, not sales. Share with them a motivational quote or a link to a relevant article or blog post.  Offer free trainings that can be shared without an agenda. Don’t always try to be pitching them on your business or selling them the next big thing.  Always be adding value to the relationship.  (see rule #8.)

RULE 5:  Prepare your content and information outside of your social networks.  Use the social networks to draw them to your blog, your videos, your website or to the articles you have written.  Let your content do the selling for you, rather than you trying to sell them on what you have to offer.

RULE 6: Always get permission from your friend before you send them information about your products, services  or your business. Timing is everything.  Make sure it is right.  They are more likely to take a look at what you are offering if you’ve developed a relationship of trust first, and then they will be open to receiving what you have to offer,  if you have prepared them properly. (Remember rule #3?”)

RULE 7: Never do a shameless plug for your product or business on someone’s content, comment or material.  This is just plain rude and inconsiderate.  Find a way to add value to the conversation, not take away from it by shamelessly promoting your product or service.  Add value, consistently and often.  This will help build trust and rapport, and people will begin to recognize you as a valued contributor.

RULE 8:  Master the  95/5 give-to-take ratio, meaning you are giving away something of value 95% of the time.  Promote your products and services or business the other 5% of the time.  If you give more than you take, you’ll sell more when you make your offers.

Well, that’s  what I consider to be the top 8 rules for social media marketing.  I am sure there are others, but if you were just to follow these eight simple rules, you would be ahead of 95% of the other marketers out there who are doing it all wrong.

By following these 8 simple rules for social media marketing, you will attract a huge following, sponsor more people into your business and sell a ton more products and services than those who don’t. Guaranteed!

How To F.O.R.M. A Prospect

In the days before the internet and generic lead generation systems, distributors built their businesses by actually talking to people.  Can you imagine that?  Believe it or not, it still works today.  You can find prospects by simply being willing to open your mouth and talk to people.

In the olden days when ‘network marketing’ was known as ‘multi-level marketing’ distributors were taught how to F.O.R.M. a prospect, a simple acronym given to distributors so they would have an outline of subjects to create a conversation with a potential prospect.  Let’s break it down here.

F. Family. Everyone likes to talk about their family.  This is an easy place to start. The easiest way to begin a conversation is ask the person questions about their family.  Ask sincerely, without an agenda.  At this point, you are merely beginning a conversation with someone.

O. Occupation.  Next, you want to find out what they do.  Ask about their work and if they are happy in it.  Be listening for a thread of discontent that you might be able to bring up later.  If you happen to be observing them do their job, offer a sincere compliment if you appreciated their service.  Ask if they are happy in their current position and determine if they keep their options open.

R. Recreation.  Find out what they do for fun, and if you are lucky, you might find some common interests to build upon here.  If they have interests different from your own, ask sincere questions to learn more. Be geniune. Continue to build rapport.

M. Message.  Finally, if the conversation has gone well, if you have been able to build some rapport, and they appear open to possibilities, invite them to take a look at your opportunity.  Ask for a business card and get permission to send them some information and ask if it is ok to follow up with them in a day or two.  If they seem reluctant, give them your business card with your contact information and a link to your website.  Let them know you would be happy to answer any questions, once they have taken a look at your opportunity.

That’s how you F.O.R.M. a prospect–A simple conversation to have with people to determine if they might be open to a business opportunity. Just try it.  You will be amazed and have fun as you get to know a lot of different people.  Who knows, your next top distributor might be just a conversation away!

How To Craft The Perfect Self-Talk

One of the best ways to control your thoughts is to create a positive self-talk.  A self-talk is a short, self-directed positive statement that you repeat to yourself to stop the negative chatter going on in your mind when you don’t consciously direct your thoughts.

In this post I wanted to share with you a simple, but effective way to create a positive self-talk that will help you overcome negative thoughts, attitudes and habits, and will help you achieve your goals and dreams. Here is the simple 5-step formula.

STEP 1:  Think of a time in your life where you had the “perfect day”, or an activity, event or a time when you were at your greatest emotional high ever.  It could be a time of great achievement, reaching a difficult goal or any other event that created a strong emotional state within you.

STEP 2:  Now that you have the time of your greatest emotional high in your mind, go there.  Re-live that time as if you were there again–in your mind–until you feel the same strong emotions and good feelings you experienced when it was real.  Be there… Feel it… Capture those wonderful emotions and hold them firmly in your mind.

STEP 3:  Identify the specific emotional state you are experiencing and put a word to it such as jubulient, ecstatic, joyful, happy, excited, loving, etc.  Now take these emotions and create the first line of your statement by stating, “I AM ___________.” using one, two or three of the positive emotions your identified.

STEP 4:  Determine your what you want to bring into existence next. You may want to change a bad habit, correct a negative statement about yourself, or state your next big achievement or income goal.  This will become the second line of your statement.  Make sure it is written positive in the present tense.

So here is an example of how a positive self-talk may look like so far.  “I am ecstatic and joyful earning $500 per week.”

STEP 5:  Finally, add how you are going to accomplish your statement.  What are you personally going to do? What will you  offer as a service? Or what will you give in order to make your statement become a reality?  The exact plan is not necessary.  That will come to your mind, over time, as repeat your statement consistently on a daily basis. For now, just state generally what you are going to do.

So now your statement may look like this.  “I am ecstatic and joyful earning $500 per week building my network marketing business, easily and consistently, through education and teamwork.”

Put your statement on 3×5 cards and place them on your mirror, the frig, in your car and keep one on yourself to remind you to say your statement daily.  You should repeat it a minimum of 100 times each day, working up to 300-400 times per day. This will allow you to replace the random thoughts your mind generates that are often negative and unproductive. With your positive self-talk you can take control of the thoughts that are influencing your sub-conscious mind.

When you say your statement, it must be read or said with the same emotion and feeling you have put into your statement. Just reading or saying it is not going to work.  The emotion gets it to sink into the sub-conscious mind.  Once it is planted there, it can start working on you to make the changes necessary for your to reach the goal you have listed on your statement.

Finally, you have to back it with the faith and belief that it will work.  No doubt can creep in.  You must believe the statement as if it is were 100% true.  The more you say it to yourself, the stronger your belief will be.  You can use this method to change any thought, habit or attitude that is not currently serving you well.

Try it and let me know how it works for you. Feel free to share your statement, comments or questions about “self-talk” below.  If this helped you, it may help others.  Please share this post on your favorite social network and let them know the value you found with this post.

Stop Thinking About It And Just Do Something

In looking over the past year has your life and circumstances changed that much? If not, why not? People spend too much time thinking about changing their life but never get around to actually taking the necessary action needed to change their lives.

I got an interesting insight from Tuula Rands who said on a mental cleanse call, “I made a choice a year ago to change my life.  I changed my thoughts and my thoughts changed me.  If we can change ourselves by changing our thoughts we can also change the circumstances around us and in our business.” Nothing changes until you make the decision to change. When you make that decision, your life will turn around.

Have you found yourself thinking about doing the things that would actually make a difference in your life, but not actually getting around to doing them?  You know what you need to do.  You think about doing it.  You plan to do it. But you just haven’t done it yet? Stop thinking about it and just do something now to make  a difference in your life.

Napoleon Hill states, “We rise to high positions or remain at the bottom BECAUSE OF CONDITIONS WE CAN CONTROL, IF WE DECIDE TO CONTROL THEM.” The only thing you have total control over are your own thoughts.  It is a conscious choice [to control my thoughts] that you have to make for your life to get better and for your conditions to change. You have to choose to make things better. And you do that by changing your thoughts and the way you think about things.

You have the knowledge. You have been given good ideas. Now just  put them into action. Just thinking about is not going to get the job done. You must act now by going to work today with what you already know. You don’t need to know everything before you get started; You just need to know what to do next. The rest will come as you implement your plan and move forward. You must start DOING the things that will actually bring you the things I desire.

So today, begin taking the actions necessary to achieve the things you want out of life. Stop just thinking about it. Say to yourself, “I am going to DO IT!” and just go out and DO IT! Start by taking action today. Make a daily, weekly and monthly action plan. Use your self-talk every day to remind yourself of your intentions and promises you have made to yourself.  Focus your thoughts on the actions you need to DO and watch what happens to your life when you finally take action.

Learn How To Use Facebook Ads To Get Leads

Mike Hobbs recently tested a new Facebook advertising technique that converted new prospects at a rate of over 23% and is be sharing his secrets in an upcoming 60-minute webinar, “Jedi Facebook Ads.”

Hobbs recently ran a test ad on Facebook, closing 36 leads in just seven days from a list of only 155 people. His partner Adam asked if they were people already on his list and Hobbs responded, “Nope! All fresh Facebook Traffic.”

Adam couldn’t believe it.  He had to test it himself. In two days he generated 84 leads and had 17 sales using the same technique.  They found something big in Facebook advertising and have decided to share everything they have learned–the exact ads, keywords, and conversion strategies they are using–in a live, 60-minute webinar.

In a private interview, Hobbs said, “most of the people who market on Facebook have NO CLUE what they’re doing, that’s why it’s so easy to have the best ad on the page, get all the clicks, and convert the best leads into sales almost instantly.” Anyone using this technique can expect the same.

In this special “Jedi Facebook Ads” webinar attendees will discover how to create an ad the RIGHT way so the ads are placed on top of everyone else’s, resulting in more traffic, lower cost per click, and  getting better click through rates from the start.

Hobbs will also show attendees how to select ‘winning’ keywords with ease and will reveal the tiny error that 98% of Facebook marketers are making when selecting keywords, costing them more money and resulting in a lower ranking.

Hobbs will also share a Facebook application that keeps the prospects on Facebook through the entire sales process, thus lowering the pay-per-click cost and creating higher conversions, and also get their ads 30-40% cheaper than everyone else.

How much are people willing to  invest to learn Facebook advertising techniques?  Some Facebook Advertising webinars and courses have sold for as much as $497 by other authors.  Originally, Mike and Adam were going to charge $97 for their full-blown course, but they have cut the fluff and hype and have created a mini-course for only $37 dollars, which includes a 10 day “love it or get a refund” guarantee.

Paul Hutchings’ Top 10 Lessons For Success In Network Marketing

If you could ask an expert what to do during your first year in network marketing, what would YOU learn?  In a free webinar, Paul Hutchings shares what he learned during his first year in network marketing.  You can watch the full webinar here:

http://paulhutchings.net/top-10-lessons-i-learned-my-first-year-in-internet-network-marketing/

Here is a quick summary of the lessons he shares in the webinar.

1. Mindset is everything.  Developing the proper mindset is a major key to be successful in network marketing.  Crap happens! And you have to learn to get through it.

2.  Consistency with action beats the perfect plan every time.  Nothing happens until you take action consistently towards your goal.

3.  Don’t be afraid to invest in your business.  You need tools, training and education to be successful

4.  Know where to focus your time.  Make sure you are participating in the activities (marketing, prospecting, and training) that will make you money on a daily basis.

5.  You get paid for bring value to the marketplace.  If you bring just a little value to the marketplace, you get paid just a little.  The more value you bring to the marketplace, the more you will get paid.  A great question to ask is, “How can I increase my value to the marketplace?”

6.  If you don’t know how to do something, look it up on Google or YouTube.  Don’t use the excuse, ‘I don’t know how’ to knock you out of the game.  Be willing to learn and do new things.

7.  There is no magic solution.  Success requires hard work.  Don’t fall prey to the slick marketers who are trying to sell you the push-of-a-button, little known secret solution.

8.  Be a student of those who are getting the results you want. Learn what they do.  Follow what they do.  Do what they do.

9.  Internet Marketing is not Network Marketing and visa versa.  The internet is a tool to help you get in front of prospects.  You still have to talk with people to be successful in network marketing.

10.  The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.  Building a business can seem overwhelming at times, but you can still win by learning one thing at a time and then doing it consistently until you succeed.

BONUS LESSON: Never give up on your dreams.  Napoleon Hill said, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” Which one are you?  Decide now to be a winner.

Well there they are, the Top 10 lessons Paul Hutchings learned doing network marketing his first year in the business.  Paul has since grown to be the top recruiter in his business and enjoys sharing and teaching others how to do the same.  Again, you can get the full webinar on his blog here:

How To NOT Succeed In Network Marketing

I like top ten lists.  How about the top ten things you should do to NEVER succeed in network marketing?  I post this because I find that most people in network marketing are guilty of doing at leas some of them.  So if you want to be successful in network marketing, just do the opposite, right?  Makes sense to me.  So here are my:

Top 1o Things you should do to NEVER succeed in network marketing.”

1.  Don’t listen to anyone who actually has done what you would like to do.

2.  Take advice from everyone you know who has never achieved a goal or fulfilled a dream.

3. Plan, plan, plan, and plan some more.  Get it 100% right first. Then check it a few more times to make sure it is right before you actually DO something.

4.  Blame others and make excuses for your failure to achieve what you would like.

5.  Take time everyday to think negatively about yourself, your life and your company.

6.  Repeat the same mistakes over and over because you never learned from them in the first place.

7.  Keep going in the same direction that has never gotten you where you wanted to go.

8. Don’t do anything to replace those limiting, negative thoughts you’ve always had.

9. Keep spending time around those people who assure you you’ll never be successful.

10. Insist that you are right, no matter what the outcome of any action, because being wrong is worse than being a failure.

Is there anything on this list that you do?  What are you going to do to change it?
